A nostalgic scene that has changed little since 1983.
This award-winning pastel painting depicts the well-known view from the ‘diag’ on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I was enamored with this college town, it's vitality, and the scenic campus and moved there in the early ‘80s. On any given evening downtown streets and campus pathways are usually brimming with students and locals in shops and lively alfresco restaurants. If you look closely, you'll see Tice's, Ashley's, the Bivouac store, and Nickels Arcade; a nostalgic scene that has changed little since 1983.
This painting was selected as the cover of the Ann Arbor Observer Magazine in April 1984. It was awarded the People's Choice Award at the UM Alumni Show during the renowned Ann Arbor Art Fair.
The original art was drawn with pastel on deep blue paper and measures 17" x 25". You may buy prints of STATE STREET, ANN ARBOR in a variety of sizes.
